Upgraded | Canadian Government Funding

This program helps businesses offset the cost of hiring a technical associate to support commercialization efforts. Alberta Innovates provides a monthly stipend and an annual expense allowance of up to $7,000 to cover some non-salary costs related to the associate’s work. Associates can be hired on either a full-time or part-time basis.

Funding Amount

Successful applicants may receive up to 75% to max. of $120,000 of the Associate’s salary.

Eligible Applicants

For-profit companies or SMEs with more than 500 employees and over $50 million in annual revenue
Must be a legal entity with up-to-date corporate filings
Must be authorized to carry out the project and eligible to receive Alberta Innovates funding
Incorporated in Alberta or registered extra-provincially in Alberta
May operate as a general partnership, limited partnership, or limited liability partnership registered in Alberta
Must have a strong operational and physical presence in Alberta
Must demonstrate Alberta-based ownership
The project must primarily benefit Alberta

Must align with the goals of the Industry Commercialization Associate Program
Include clear “go/no go” decision points to guide project progress
Be completed within one year
Clearly outline the applicant’s required financial contribution
Meet any additional requirements set by Alberta Innovates
