Upgraded | Canadian Government Funding

This program supports collaborative efforts that bring together agriculture, technology, and equipment manufacturing to create practical, on-farm applications. The funding focuses on advancing research and development in automation and robotics within Canada’s agriculture industry.

Funding Amount

CAAIN will reimburse projects up to 40% of the Total Eligible Supported Expenses, to a maximum of $3 Million.

Eligible Applicants

Must involve at least two Canadian-incorporated small or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), each with 499 or fewer employees
At least two SMEs must provide a financial (cash) contribution
Contributions can also come from multinational enterprises (MNEs) or not-for-profit organizations to meet the required 60% industry cash contribution
All approved projects are subject to a 4% administrative fee on total eligible supported expenses, deducted from each claim before reimbursement

Eligible Activities

Testing and validating new agricultural technologies in real-world Canadian conditions

Demonstrating technology to stakeholders such as producers, vendors, consultants, and investors

Providing workforce training to support the use, maintenance, and expansion of agricultural technologies

Advancing smart farm innovations to boost automation and robotics in the agriculture sector
