Upgraded | Canadian Government Funding

The Forest Sector Investment and Innovation Program (FSIIP) supports Ontario-based forestry companies with funding to adopt new technologies, expand facilities, and introduce innovative products or processes. The goal is to drive growth, modernization, and competitiveness across the province’s forest industry.

Funding Amount

There are two streams of funding for this program that vary in their funding allottments:

Business projects:
- Eligible for loans covering up to 30% of project costs.
- Up to 50% of the loan may be forgivable.
- Stacking with other government funding is not allowed.

Collaboration projects:
- Eligible for grants covering up to 30% of project costs, up to a maximum of $3 million.
- Stacking with other government funding is allowed, as long as total government support does not exceed 50%.

Pulp and paper mills
Secondary wood manufacturers
Bio-economy project developers

Collaboration projects:

For-profit forest sector businesses
Not-for-profit research organizations
Forest industry associations
Academic institutions

Enhancing competitiveness and productivity
Encouraging innovation
Expanding market opportunities for Ontario businesses
Boosting Ontario’s global competitiveness
Supporting regional economic development
