Greenhouse Technology Network (GTN)

The Greenhouse Technology Network (GTN) supports innovation in Canada’s greenhouse sector by co-funding industry-led projects that enhance or implement new technologies in greenhouse production. Backed by FedDev Ontario, GTN is a partnership between Niagara College, the University of Guelph, and Vineland Research and Innovation Centre.

Funding Amount

The Greenhouse Technology Network may provide the following funding for successful applicants:

  • Up to $100,000 in contribution matching resulting in a maximum budget of $200,000 per project
  • Business contributions must be a minimum of 20% in cash.

Eligible Applicants

  • Businesses involved in greenhouse or related technologies.
  • Companies operating in Southern Ontario.
  • SMEs facing technology adoption or development challenges.
  • Firms with experience in R&D.
  • Applicants needing support from GTN facilities or expertise to solve problems.
  • Organizations open to collaborative innovation and risk-sharing.

    Eligible Activities

    • Development or adoption of new or improved greenhouse-related technologies (materials, systems, processes).
    • Projects that can reduce costs, minimize environmental impacts, or improve competitiveness.
    • Activities at any development stage (from idea to implementation) that are reviewed for feasibility by research partners.

    Eligible Expenses may Include:

    • Labour and technical expertise.
    • Supplies and materials.
    • Other non-capital costs (e.g., software or services).
    • Administrative and outreach efforts.
