NGen Advanced Manufacturing Projects

The NGen Advanced Manufacturing Project Program aims to speed up commercialization and business scale-up across Canada’s manufacturing sector. Canadian manufacturers and tech providers are encouraged to collaborate in consortiums that use breakthrough technologies to create innovative advanced manufacturing processes.

Funding will vary by applicant.

Eligible Applicants

To qualify, companies must be incorporated in Canada and carry out value-added activities like R&D or manufacturing in the country—more than just maintaining a sales office.

Applicants must also fall into one of the following categories:

  • A for-profit business;
  • A not-for-profit entity that supports R&D for the ecosystem and receives most of its funding from private-sector or industry groups;
  • A non-federal Crown corporation funded by commercial activity;
  • An Indigenous organization; or
  • Any other organization pre-approved by the Minister.

Projects must align with NGen’s four main strategic objectives:

  • Transformative: deliver a major competitive edge to Canadian industry;
  • Collaborative: involve at least two Canadian industrial partners working meaningfully together;
  • Applied: focus on short- to mid-term commercialization with clear commercial and economic impacts;
  • Enduring: contribute long-term value to Canada’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
