Upgraded | Canadian Government Funding

The Market Readiness Program provides Ontario-based grants to support the early commercialization efforts of academic spin-offs, graduates of OCI accelerators (CLA/OCIA), and SmartStart Seed Fund recipients. This funding helps cover costs associated with acquiring customers and building out the business, ultimately lowering the risk for investors and encouraging additional private capital.

Funding Amount

Successful applicants may receive the following:

Up to $250,000 in funding support;
Investments may be used for a runway of up to 12 months; and
Funding available is company already has a pre-seed or seed round funding raised.

Eligible Applicants

To qualify, companies must:

Have a clear growth and sales strategy with demonstrated market traction;
Show potential to transform or redefine a market;
Be operating under a business model that’s been in place for 2 to 4 years; and
Be aiming toward a seed-extension or Series A funding round within 1–2 years.

Eligible Activities

Funding may support:

Customer Creation: Building a repeatable and scalable sales process.
Company Building: Activities that support the long-term development of a sustainable business model.
