Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP)

The Ontario Automotive Modernization Program (O-AMP) provides provincial funding to automotive parts manufacturers in Ontario to help them adopt new software, hardware, and lean manufacturing practices. The goal is to enhance productivity, strengthen competitiveness, and modernize operations within the sector.

Funding Amount

Up to 50% funding to a maximum of $150,000 grant per project.

Eligible Applicants

To qualify, applicants must be small- or medium-sized automotive parts manufacturers located in Ontario and part of the supply chain to OEMs (distributors do not qualify). Additional requirements include:

  • Fewer than 500 full-time payroll employees
  • Annual revenues under $1 billion (larger firms may be eligible if they partner with an SME supplier)
  • At least 50% of total sales must come from the automotive industry
  • A minimum of two years’ worth of financial statements
  • Previous recipients must finish their earlier O-AMP project before applying again

Eligible Activities

Projects must fall into one of the following categories. Equipment purchases are not eligible, and applicants must demonstrate proper financing, management, and experience to carry out the project:

  • Technology Adoption: Using new software and supporting hardware (e.g. ERP systems, virtual machining tools) to enhance productivity, efficiency, and technological capability.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Implementing lean practices or Industry 4.0 approaches through in-house strategies or third-party certified consultants.
