Palette Skills -- Upskill Canada Program

The Palette Skills – Upskill Canada Program provides funding to help partners design and deliver short-duration training programs (lasting 4 to 16 weeks). These programs aim to equip participants with a mix of technical skills, business knowledge, and soft skills that align with the needs of high-growth sectors in Canada.

Eligible applicants may access up to 70% of the total eligible costs.

Eligible Applicants

Organizations in Canada may apply for funding if they fall under the following categories:

  • Non-profit entities
  • For-profit companies (as long as they don’t generate profits from the training initiative)
  • Post-secondary education institutions
  • Private colleges and other private training providers
  • Industry and business associations, including sector-specific groups

Eligible delivery partners include training providers, industry/business associations, or community-based organizations.

Programs must include these six key components:

  • Driven by real labour market demand
  • Delivered in a short timeframe
  • Embedded within industry needs
  • Led or co-led by employers
  • Recruitment focused on candidate potential
  • Includes support for job placement

Training can be offered in-person, virtually, or as a hybrid model.

Eligible Costs Include:

  • Labour and wages
  • Contractor or consultant fees
  • Tech equipment and materials
  • Travel
  • Other relevant expenses
